Great local food and drink
We are thrilled to be the new landlords at The Guinea, a wonderful village pub located in rural Bedfordshire between Bedford and Sandy. We previously ran the Sondes Arms in Rockingham Northamptonshire where we built up a strong local trade and a high quality food offering.
We’re going to use our experience to continue creating a lively local pub for the village that will also be popular with diners from further afield. We know that customers expect and deserve high standards so refurbishments have been made throughout the pub and the kitchen. Including improvements to the seating in the restaurant bar, new carpeting, a complete makeover of the kitchen and the return of draft beer pumps to the refurbished Guinea bar.
If you have longish hair can you make sure you have something to tie it back with. Also, if you could advise of any injury that you or the attendee’s may be suffering from, this will allow the tutors to take into account to give all applicants the best experience possible.
These are some of the questions that we have been asked int he past –
Do we need to bring our own equipment ?
No – we supply all of the equipment that is required for the course. Only need to bring yourself.
Where we will be training ?
The training is carried out indoors. The weather is never our friend in the UK so we will use our indoor facility’s for the training.
Can we have the course work before we arrive ?
Unfortunately No. The course work will be available on the first evening/morning of the course. You have to have started the course to receive the course work material.
Is there any Pre course work?
No you do not need to complete any pre course work. No previous archery knowledge is required, though may be an advantage.
Where can we get Lunch ?
If you turn left out of the training centre come to a sharp right hand bend. Follow the bend around and about 200 yds on the left you will see a left turn. Take the left turn and follow around to the right you will hit the Texico garage which has a CO-OP attached to it.
Turn right out of the training centre, reach the roundabout and take the first turning toward the A1. Reach the next roundabout and you will see a big Sainsbury on the other side of the A1.
What is covered on an Archery Instructor Award?
You will be taught how to take a basic have a go/taster archery session. Selecting equipment, Setting up a range, adaptation.
What the difference between the “old” leaders course and the “new” Instructor award?
The new course is run over 2 days rather than the previous 4 day course. Also the new course only teaches “point of aim” shooting and does not include “sighted” shooting. There is no maintenance of equipment taught on the Instructor award.
How long does the Instructor award last?
The qualification lasts for 3 years. At which point it will need to be renewed. Details about the renewal can be found here.
